FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is Waxing?
Waxing removes the entire hair follicle from its root with an effect lasting up to six weeks. The hairs will return but softer and less abundant. The wax (a kind of resin) will only stick to the hairs that need to be removed, not to your skin.
Why is waxing more efficient than other depilatory treatments?
If you shave or use a depilatory cream the hair roots remain. As a result, the hair will start growing back soon again, and with a hardened edge: a stubble. Waxing, however, removes the complete hair including its root. So, it takes longer to grow a new hair in the follicle. On top of that, the wax will exfoliate dead skin cells, as a peeling. This leaves your skin extra soft.
Permanent hair removal (such as IPL or Laser techniques) takes many successive treatments and over the years hairs may come back anyway. And, some hair or skin types are not suitable for IPL or Laser treatments.
Is Waxing painful?
We cannot deny that there are a few slightly painful moments. But our depiladoras are perfectly skilled to minimize the discomfort. They work as quickly as possible. The only unpleasant moment is when the wax is removed, but this lasts less than a second only and the depiladora will help you to get used to it. Before you know it, it’s over! During your first treatment you will get used to the process; the second time you already know what to expect and you may even enjoy it.
What about hygiene?
We value hygiene above all. Therefore, we don’t double dip the spatula when applying wax to your skin. Our depiladoras wear latex gloves and take clean ones for each customer. Everything touching your skin is used one-time only and totally clean!
What's a Brazilian Wax?
This wax takes all hair off the bikini line, from the pelvic area all the way to your back (including between your buttocks: this is difficult but our depiladores are trained to do it). If you wish, a small strip or a triangle is left at the front. This is perfect for wearing a thong bikini or if you want to be completely or almost hairless (front and back).
What to wear for a wax treatment?
The areas to be waxed should be naked. But don’t worry: our depiladoras have seen it all over the years, so there is no need to feel uncomfortable. Just wear what makes you feel relaxed. Make sure your clothing doesn’t touch the wax though, as it is difficult to remove.
When is it not advised to wax?
Please do not wax if you take medicine that affects the sensitivity of your skin, such as Retin A, Accutane, Tetracycline or Glucolic Acid. Please tell us if you suffer from diabetes or from skin allergies, or if you are in chemo- or radiotherapy. Also please let us know if you have an immune deficiency disease or any other ailment that you feel might affect the treatment.
